What is a Pyaav?
"Memorial with a Utilitarian Aspect" - Confluence of the Indian tradition of dedication of memorials and charity
with the European concept of drinking water fountains gave rise to the unique concept of a 'pyaav'.
Outside prominent structures in parks, playgrounds on street junctions.
The location of the pyaavs are along the network of old tram routes, road junctions, busy
market areas, textile mill lands and all those places that witnessed commotion with working
class people, day to day travellers and transportation of goods on a major scale.
